Hello! My name is Emma Richards and, this summer, I will be returning to the mountain to work as a Director! Working at Mountain T.O.P. these past two summers has been a life-changing experience for me. This job has taught me amazing things about working in a leadership role, pushing through difficult situations, and growing in my faith and I am so stoked to get to continue in this new position in Summer 2019!
One of my favorite parts about working at Mountain T.O.P. is the relationships I have created with the local families of Grundy County, my staff, and the volunteers that travel from all over the country to work with the community. I am so excited to see these relationships grow even more this summer! In my new position as a Director, I will oversee and be ultimately responsible for all camp operations and staff effectiveness to ensure the quality of both camper (volunteers) and staff experience. This is the largest leadership role I have ever been placed in and I am both excited and nervous! Working at Mountain T.O.P. has truly opened my eyes to the issues of rural poverty so close to my home in Nashville. My hope is that as a member of Mountain T.O.P. staff this summer I can continue to support a community that is often so overlooked and misjudged by our society. I have met some of the most generous and kind-hearted people through this ministry and can't wait to continue this summer as I help to oversee both our Service Project and Day Camp programs at Camp Cumberland Pines!
This past summer, the support from friends and family was so amazing and I was so grateful! In order to be a part of Mountain T.O.P. staff, I am required to raise half of my salary plus living expenses. I am so blessed to have this opportunity and am so thankful to have a community that supports me in my call.
