Source of Hope

The affordability of housing is a hot topic among both public and private efforts in alleviating poverty. Without a good home, families will not be sustainable and children will not be able to grow into healthy life roles. The cycle will remain continuous until we choose to work together to make a difference as One Body (1 Cor. 12:12-27). We believe that addressing the quality of housing is the most critical component of promoting children's health and well-being. To us, housing is hope to thousands of families who come in contact with Mountain T.O.P.

It is obvious: housing matters. Recent research on the connection between childhood development and housing situations shows that when a family lives in a home of poor quality, parents tend to experience more psychological stress which in return has negatively affected children. Children show higher levels of emotional problems, including symptoms of depression and anxiety. Others also show behavioral issues such as aggression, lying, and deceitfulness. As children mature these circumstances tend to result in adolescents being less and less successful in core academic subjects. And children who move from house to house, never truly finding a home, often suffer from emotional and behavioral health issues.

With that being said, our impact on the communities of the 7 counties within our service area is essential. As an organization, Mountain T.O.P. focuses on eliminating negative outcomes. Through your support, we can continue being a source of hope for every family that each of our programs work with. Hope is seeing a homebound person able to finally get out to visit family because he now has a wheelchair ramp. Hope is working with a family to provide a warmer home to get through the winter months. Hope is ensuring children are able to safely get into and out of their home. Not only are you making a momentary impact but you also are building up a more sustainable future for the generations that are to come.

Will you support Mountain T.O.P.'s overflow of hope by giving a year-end financial gift?

"I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit."
